In 2021, I took my yearly dose of the movie “Tangled”.

I won’t go into detail, but let’s just say that this movie has probably had the biggest impact on me growing up. In 2021, we had the biggest reunion yet, the one that made me watch the “Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure” series, which I -at first- was hesitant to experience. But hey! Good thing I did, because I was incredibly inspired by these doodles Rapunzel made, of things that were happening during her days.

MINE:

The first one I did, didn’t quite feel like me, because I was trying to copy Rapunzel’s (more like Chris Sonnenburg’s and Shane Prigmore’s) style.

Notice how I’ve sprinkled random leaves and squiggles all around, trying to compete with the drawings above… You can feel the awkwardness of my brushstrokes…

Luckily enough, I realized I didn’t like the outcome, and slowly developed a style personalized on my own abilities.

Approximately a month later I finished my second drawing, in which I tried to juxtapose my previous attempt, and was left with something that I thought felt too stiff, and claustrophobic. Also, this time I experimented with text, which I also didn’t like.

This one I made for my best friends, that depicts a very iconic moment of us riding the shopping cart. Although I wouldn’t consider it my best work, I just can’t be mad at it.

It’s not exactly of the same structure as the above, but I believe the corrections I made are quite noticeable (background color is alright, no texts, no tree brunches).

This one I made for mother’s day, and honestly I think it turned out amazing. The colors and the scenes blend with each other very well, it has a light feel, and the art style is close to the one I have today.

For context, “Dziękuję” means “Thank you” in Polish, and the scenes depicted are some vivid memories I have with my mum. <3

Wow! It’s been 3 years, and I’m still in awe of this one! I like the balance between the greens, the blues, the browns, and that table from above was surely an excellent addition.

In the summer, we traveled to Lefkada (Λευκάδα). There, I set a challenge to myself to document every day, in which I almost succeeded.

I took my sketchbook to the sea, to the waterfalls, I had it in the car. Here is what I captured:
